Avoiding
Potential Problems
Our
research has shown that the following "observable"
and "hidden" causes may contribute to difficulty in
securing a quick, easy, long lasting bond.
- Using too much adhesive in the application (step
7). A case of "Less is better!"
- Natural Oils. The natural oil must be removed so
that the nail has a dull finish prior to application (step
2). Our new Bond Aid swab helps to clean the nail and
adjust the Ph level.
- Moisture. Moisture on the nails will prevent
bonding in much the same manner that natural oils do. Allow
enough time for the nail to dry before attempting to bond
the brace to the nail. Pay special attention to the outer
edges of the nail where moisture may get trapped.
- Excess Dust. Be thorough in cleaning the nail
plate.
- Diseased or Damaged Nail Plate. The quality of the
bond will be limited to the quality of the bonding
surfaces. Many diseased nails cannot be bonded to, while
others because of their shape or thickness do not respond
well to the brace. See "Customizing Your Nail."
- Contaminated Nail Plate. Infectious discharge,
medications, bandaging, household cleaning products, acidic
juices, and other contaminants must be completely removed,
and the nail dried before trying to apply the NailEase
brace.
- Hidden Causes. These hidden causes are not
absolutes. They are given as a possible cause only when
no other explanation is available. Heart and thyroid
medications, insulin, diuretics, too much vitamin B-6, and
bacteria in patient system.
