Customizing your nail

  • Only nails of a uniform shape and thickness will respond to the brace in a "uniform" way. Your nail will give way to the force of the brace at its weakest point. If you want the nail to lift more on one side than the other, try thinning the nail slightly in the spot where you want the nail to respond. Be careful not to thin the area too much! When the NailEase brace is trimmed to size, it can become very stiff and may "over correct" an area that has been thinned too much.

  • In the most difficult situations i.e. Highly curved nail, or poor bonding surface, a better bond can be made by applying a thin base coat of adhesive to the nail first. Allow plenty of time for the adhesive to dry. Buff and clean the surface again before applying the brace. The idea here is that you are creating a bond with the nail before applying the force of the brace. When the brace is finally applied, you are bonding two similar surfaces (adhesive to adhesive).
